Procrastination

Author's Note: This is just a short piece on the quote below.

"Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted."
                                                                                              -John Lennon

Procrastinators rejoice!  I have found a quote that puts into words why we feel the need to waste time.  John Lennon once said "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted." I agree completely.  All this great artist was trying to says was that sometimes there are the things you just need to do.  It may seem silly to others when you take the time before writing a long paper to go watch your favorite YouTube video.  But to you this small act of procrastination is what allows you to pound out that paper without drooping halfway through in complete dejection.  Those two minutes of bliss were not wasted!

For me the perfect time to 'waste' time is while I'm cleaning my room.  This chore is one I absolutely despise; I simply can't stay in my room tidying up for a whole hour, or sometimes more. So taking a break to pick up a good book or grab a snack refuels my patience tank so I can finish the job.  That makes sense right?  So how come my mom is always yelling at me to 'hurry the heck up'?  In my opinion more people should subscribe to John Lennon's philosophy and enjoy wasting time.

  1. At this point I would give myself a 8 of a 9 because the assignment said I could connect to my own life so I didn't know that to get a 10 I would have had to trot out some highly significant historical meaning for such a simple quote. To improve I could perhaps find a historical figure such as a president and show how they enjoyed wasting time.
