"Ello there love," the voice is right in my ear, scary and unfamiliar, "Fancy a
walk?"
"Not with a
stranger." I knew too well the
smell of a rat.
"Oh dear. But
I'm your uncle love. And I'm here to escort you home"
"N-n-no. my
whole family's dead"
"Okay love I
tried to make this easy. But I've got a gun and I've been instructed to get you
home using any force necessary."
"Please don't
hurt me." he grunts and I feel hand on my back.
"Then walk. My
car's the eighth one down." I'm so frightened I don’t know what else to
do. So I walk carefully counting. One. his hand is hard making me stumble. Two. he roughly grabs my wrist when I almost fall over. Three.
"Now love don't make me carry you."
"Now love don't make me carry you."
Four. I nod, now
mute with fear. Five. I reach my arms out but they shake. Six. I continue to hold my arms out trying to find
solace in playing airplane. Seven. the man behind me snorts but doesn’t say
anything. Eight. my arms drop as we reach our destination.
"Back door's
open love. Just get right in and buckle up"
Again I nod. I'm
shaking like a leaf now and I can't get the control to speak. So I simply pull
the door open and sit carefully on the seat.
"Buckle
up." his voice has dropped and he
is even scarier than before. I pull my seat belt across my body as he adjusts
the mirror, "Now love," the accent is back, "we are going to be
driving for a while so if ya need a nap now would be a good time."
Before I had heard his voice I was perfectly fine but now all I wanted to do was sleep and not wake up for a good long while.
