Author's Note: This is the third part in my series of 13 stories. First is 13 Seconds, then 13 Days. And now I give you 13 Years (part 1). More to come and comments appreciated!
Can you hear me Moriah?
Yeah Addy.
Much has happened since that day.
It’s been thirteen years. Of course a lot has happened.
Mmmm.
So how’s Mom and Dad?
Well Mother kicked Father out soon after I came home.
Oh.
And Mother is rather ill.
Oh.
And I don’t think your friends really like me.
So basically you’ve taken my life, screwed it up, and now you’re like here have another go at it?
Pretty much. Gosh I thought you’d love another chance, snow angel.
My sister starts to wail inside my head. I wish I could tell her to shut up but I can’t even think let alone speak. I suppose it’s my fault, using father’s old nickname for her. Snow angel. And look how easily I turned that little angel into someone desperate for any lease on life. But now it’s my turn. My turn to be losing my body, and to be stuck in someone else’s head. If I got scared I’d be terrified. But since I don’t get scared I guess I’ll just have to make plans for the next thirteen years.
Wait wait wait. So every thirteen years we have to switch?
Until one of us fails. Then the other gets the body for the rest of our lives.
I can’t do this! Not again!
Well then give up. I’ll gladly take our body.
It’s not ours! It’s mine! It will always be mine!
Oh Moriah. You still act like a thirteen year-old.
That’s because I am thirteen.
No Moriah. You’re twenty-six now.
