Leaves

Author's Note: This poem was inspired by a friend's suggestion so if you love it thank Emma.

Autumn leaves fall
Not in a swirl or a rush
Not in a waterfall motion

Autumn leaves fall
In explosions of sound
The rustle and crackle
Leaves stepped on, leaves burned

Autumn leaves fall
In bursts of color
Yellow, red, orange, purples, and browns
A color show carpeting the ground

Autumn leaves fall
With that familiar aroma
Almost musty almost dry
But always recognized

Autumn leaves fall
And are caught by the hands of small children
They will fell their smooth surface
Or break their brittle skin

Autumns leaves fall
Bringing memories of the flavors of fall
Ripe apples crisp as can be
And the crunch of baby pumpkins between your teeth

Autumn leaves fall
And bring fall along with them

  1. My favorite thing about this poem, was the line "Autumn leaves fall." I like how it mentions both names for the season, and I just interpreted it as a fun little play on words. I'm not sure if that was intended but either way good job!
